Silverstein
|
Silverstein is a Canadian rock band from Burlington, Ontario of debatable sub-genre. The band was formed in 2000 in "an attempt to tear down the boundaries between hardcore, emo and punk." While they do incorporate many elements of these genres in most of their songs (usually multiple times), the general community considers them to be harder emo with hardcore elements, and are often dubbed the controversial genre "emocore". Silverstein's self description however, keeps them from bearing a similar label. Fans of Silverstein call the group a variety of different genres that they could fit into, including emo and post-hardcore, with varying degrees of accuracy. However, their determination to "break down the boundaries" between said genres prevents them from being so easily categorized. In 2005 The band were due to perform on the Never Sleep Again tour with bands such as Aiden, Hawthorne Heights and Bayside (who will play the rest of the tour acoustic due to the death of their drummer).
